Dave Smith Instruments (DSI) was founded in 2002 by Dave Smith, known as the inventor of MIDI. The Prophet '08 (2007) brought polyphonic analog synthesis back into the modern era. The Tempest (2011), developed in collaboration with Roger Linn, was a hybrid drum machine featuring unique analog sounds. The Prophet X (2018) combined digital sample playback with classic analog synthesis, setting new standards for sound design.
